Description Akshay Kumar to take on fewer assignments so that he can spend more time with his son, Aarav. On his 42nd birthday on September 9 this year, Akshay promised his son Aarav that he will spend more time with him by taking up fewer assignments next year. Talking about his decision, Akshay said, I have been spending a lot of time with Aarav but its not enough. I have been planning to take this step for a long time but it kept getting postponed. I need to be there for Aarav. I want to attend all his PTA meetings and functions in school. I want to drop him to school and also pick him up. I want to do fun things with him including the two of us going on holidays. I want to go through all the experiences that will strengthen my bond with Aarav. For that, I have to cut down on my work. When asked if cutting down on his work will affect his career, Akshay said, Should I wait for my decline before giving my son more time? No thanks. I would rather do it now. Because these are Aaravs growing-up years. Id rather miss out on work than miss the chance to be with my son when he needs me the most. I can go on being an actor till I die but my sons growing-up years wont come back. Incidentally, Akshay always intended to let his career take taper off after a certain age. Ab bahut ho gaya. I want to take it easy. Ive been working round-the-clock. Ive to slow down. I dont need four films a year to remain successful. The two I do will keep me going for years, he added.
