Description Cello Concerto I. Allegro cantabile A work for cello and orchestra by American composer Frederick Jacobi (1891-1952), who studied under such figures as Rafael Joseffy and Ernest Bloch and eventually joined the faculty of the Juilliard School. Although his musical language was predominantly tonal, Jacobi was influenced by the music of the Navajo and Pueblo peoples of New Mexico; he also incorporated elements of Jewish liturgical music into his harmonic palette.
