Description There were a few dozen of us huddled down in a safe house in the middle of Samarra, Iraq. It was the summer of 2003. Between the blistering 130-degree days and the nightly attacks, we stayed the course and bonded as brothers. We came from very diverse backgrounds. I provided intelligence for a platoon of Mortar Infantrymen and a Special Forces team. In the four months since we took the abandoned Iraqi Police Station as our temporary home we achieved over 120 missions, incarcerated dozens of black list suspects, captured over 100 weapons caches and saved many lives. Combat camera came and spent a day at our small, improvised fortress and made a 3 minute and 37 second short feature. For security purposes, they focused on the infantrymen alone and the rest of us remained on guard but not on camera. Please watch this on Veteran's Day and remember those that have served to protect our country and to protect those in need. Hooah!
