Actually it took me nearly 15 hours!!! The problem was not so much in getting the track put together -- it was more of a case of getting the sound 'right'! The track is meant to parody early 90's r'n'b, and as such the instruments used around that time had to match. The guys did a fab job, and I'm sure there was at least one vintage piece of kit used in the track -- whether or not this was something like a DX7 for the keys or a Juno for the bass I don't know, but all I have is software sooo... For the keys I relied on Native Instruments recreation of the DX7 -- their FM7. I also layered that with another FM7 sound, a kind of 'muted pad' -- this gave it the necessary body. The bassline comprises 4 (!!!) individual bass tones made up from ReFx Nexus, Trilogy and z3TA+. The drums were a combination of ZeroG Nostalga Vst and also D16 Group Nepheton Vst. The whistle sound came from ReFx Nexus; just bear in mind that in the original track the vocals kinda obscured it, so it may sound a bit 'funny', but it's definitely in there!
