Facebook: Year 2009 in Review

Facebook

Facebook (FB) is still the number one social networking site, and now that year 2009 is about to say Good-Bye, Facebook still stands tall and we don’t know what will happen in 2010, and it may possibly take over Google, the top internet company in the world, but I doubt it.

Facebook changed its design in 2008, and it did it again in 2009. Many people were upset about it and some even tried to deactivate their Facebook accounts, but they couldn’t do it for very long.

Facebook verifying Fan Page Ownership

Over the past years we have seen, anyone can make a Facebook Fan Page, and manage it, unless they get an abuse report or some famous company sends them a DMCA, you get to keep your page. Now, today, I got an email saying that I need to verify my Fan Page that I created for my blog.
Here is what the email said:-

Our records indicate that you are currently the admin of a Facebook Page with a large number of fans, Tag Your Friends Pictures. To ensure a positive user experience, we require admins of large Pages to confirm their affiliation with the brand, business, person, or entity that their Page represents. Please use the following link to authenticate your Page.

This shows Facebook is now making sure all Fan page owners with atleast 10,000 fans verify their pages, and this can prevent the creation of duplicate and Fake Fan Pages. I have submitted the authentication report, and now waiting to be reviewed by the Facebook team.

If you don’t verify your ownership, you can lose the right to send updates to your fans, which can make you have no control over your fan page, and you cannot share stuff.
